BAESHA is a commissioning house creating objects, environments and sensory experiences for belonging.
Founded in North East England, the house brings British, Black and African, Japanese and contemporary global perspectives into considered relationship. These influences are allowed to meet without being flattened into a single aesthetic. Difference is part of the design.
BAESHA works across light, scent, textiles, body and objects. Some pieces are made by the house. Others are developed with makers, artists and specialist partners. Together, they form an evolving collection shaped by material, memory, usefulness and place.
Behind this work sits DZINU™, BAESHA’s system for developing deeper understanding before ideas become products, services or environments. DZINU helps us examine the relationships between people, place and space. BAESHA translates that understanding into things that can be experienced, used and lived with.
Our interest extends beyond how something looks. We consider how an object changes its surroundings, how it enters everyday life and what it makes possible.
The result may be quiet or expressive, familiar or unexpected. What connects it is a belief that the things we live with can do more than occupy space. They can help us recognise it, shape it and feel more fully at home within it.
