BAESHA was founded in North Shields in 2020.
British-born, with Ghanaian and Togolese roots and an Ewe family heritage, Solomon grew up in rural Buckinghamshire before studying design at Northumbria University. His journey later moved through London’s hospitality, retail and cultural worlds before returning to the North East and settling beside the River Tyne.
His professional life has crossed design, hospitality, retail and psychotherapeutic counselling. Although different on the surface, each field sharpened the same interest: how environments influence the way people feel, connect and understand themselves in relation to others.
BAESHA grew from this intersection.
The house reflects a life shaped by movement between places and perspectives: West African memory, British heritage, Japanese attention to form, formative years in London and the particular character of the North East coast. These are not combined into a single style. They remain distinct influences held in active relationship.
As BAESHA developed, Solomon established DZINU™ to formalise the deeper work of observation, enquiry and understanding behind it. DZINU examines the conditions shaping possibility; BAESHA makes those ideas tangible through objects, experiences and environments.
The product is the doorway. The system is the ambition: to heighten the quality of human relationships through people, place and space.
